Annual General Meeting

Our annual ritual as a society will be held on Zoom, as it has been for the past several years. The notice of it and a call for nominations will be included in the May newsletter, as well as a request for proxies from members who are happy with our work and unable to attend. All of our current board members have indicated they are happy to continue, which is wonderful news for our society.

The Queer Frontier: The Untold Story of Canada’s Queer Wild West

7:00 PM     MoV

Speaker: Glenn Tkach

Glenn TkachGlenn Tkach is a queer storyteller who looks at LGBTQ2S+ history. He examines the frontier era with a fresh set of eyes. His talk, The Queer Frontier, delves into the untold stories from that time—from Two-Spirit knowledge keepers to feisty working women—to better understand how queerness shaped what we now call BC and Canada.

Glenn has a background in theatre, specialising in storytelling, mime, and physical theatre. He’s chosen to make storytelling his full-time gig, along with his project the Pink Hat. He loves exploring the connections between the past and present. When asked what his most memorable experience on a tour was, Glenn replied, “I’ll never forget the time a young woman burst into tears and fell into my arms crying – so moved to hear a history she’d never heard before, and about the sacrifices made by those who came before.”
